Antique French Boudoir Stand – Gilt Ormolu, Silk & Botanical Decor
Antique French Boudoir / Wedding Decorative Stand — 19th Century Gilt Ormolu & Silk — 12" H x 9" W
✨ A Truly Romantic Piece of French Victorian Elegance ✨
Step back into the grandeur of 19th-century France with this exquisite antique boudoir or wedding decorative stand. A stunning example of French craftsmanship, this piece combines elaborate gilt ormolu metalwork with a delicately tufted blush-pink silk cushion panel, adorned with preserved botanical sprigs, feathers, and silk florals — all framed within an ornate arched gilt wire frame.
Description:
Frame & Structure: Arched gilt metal (ormolu-style) frame mounted on delicate wire easel legs, allowing the piece to stand freely on a tabletop or vanity
Decorative Metalwork: Richly detailed cast gilt ornaments throughout, including sunflower/daisy rosettes, acanthus leaf sprays, and — most impressively — a beautifully sculpted gilt bird perched atop the crown of the frame, with wings outstretched in mid-flight
Center Panel: Blush pink silk, tufted and padded, decorated with small gilt floral buttons at each tuft point
Botanical Decoration: Authentic-looking arrangement of preserved or silk leaves, berries, feathers, and small ribbon florals pinned to the silk panel — very much in the style of Victorian mourning or wedding keepsake art
Lower Hanging Accent: A small rectangular beveled glass or mirror plaque suspended from the base of the frame by wire
Reverse: Pink silk backing with original wire hanger intact — indicating this piece could also be displayed as a wall hanging
Condition: This piece is in good antique condition consistent with its age — showing beautiful patina on the gilt metalwork and natural aging to the silk and botanicals. Please note: one decorative ornamental leaf on the left side is missing, as shown in photos. The overall structure is intact and sturdy. The botanical arrangement shows some wear and fading, adding to its authentic antique character.
Dimensions:
Height: approximately 12 inches
Width: approximately 9 inches
Origin & Period: French, likely Second Empire or Belle Époque, circa 1860–1900
Ideal for: Victorian decor collectors, French antique enthusiasts, boudoir styling, bridal or wedding decor displays, or as a one-of-a-kind decorative accent
