Pair of Antique Passementerie Double-Tassel Tiebacks, Black/Burgundy/Tan
A matched pair of passementerie curtain tiebacks in a rich dark palette of black, burgundy, and tan, each made from a braided cord gathered at a woven ball knot, with two tassels hanging below — four tassels total across the pair. Each tassel head is a three-tier construction: a small braided/basket-weave ball at the top, a swirled wrapped ball below it, and a larger woven lattice ball with a scalloped braid trim at the base, transitioning into a full cut-fringe skirt in mixed black, burgundy, and tan cording.
Each tieback: tassel body approximately 10" long, with a fringe length of approximately 6".
The three-tier ball construction — braided topper, swirled ball, and lattice ball — is a more elaborate passementerie build than a simple single-ball tassel, consistent with fine 19th century French drapery trim .
Condition: general soft age-appropriate wear throughout, with the fringe cording intact , some fraying and discoloration. Sold as a pair, as found, no restoration or cleaning carried out.
